Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has attributed the drug menace in the county to what he termed as an auxiliary network that creates a favourable environment for the corporate drug business.
The senator in an interview with KTN News yesterday said that said political fallout was key in tackling those involved in the illegal business.
“Political fallout has already been witnessed and it is key in tackling the auxiliary network that has been guarding the illegal business,” said the Senator.
He added that it will be necessary to even fuel further fall out in the county’s political class so as to have proper decisions made to have them dealt with appropriately.
The senator’s remarks are a culmination of Deputy President William Ruto’s pledge to the coastal people that the government will not allow the political class to take advantage of their power and enrich themselves at the expense of the youth who are the primary consumers largely affected by drug and substance abuse.
Ruto while in Mombasa and accompanied by one key well known suspect said the government will do all it can to bring down the drug dealer networks by whatsoever means as claims of political involvement in the matter crystallize further each day.
