Kenya jobs,

A common myth shared among job seekers is that most recruitment agencies in Kenya are fake and require candidates to pay a certain fee, or like some would say, “kitu kidogo”. As Corporate Staffing Services (CSS), we have always put a disclaimer in every job opening that we do not charge any fee to place candidates in our open positions.

But some of you still insist otherwise. Today, we will share the story of Florence Karaya, a recently hired Sales Account Manager in Uganda. She was as skeptical of recruitment agencies in Kenya as most of you are. However, after applying for a job with us, getting through to the first interview and the second, she has a new appreciation for recruitment firms.

Here is Her CSS Experience in 8 Questions

1. How did you hear about CSS and the job advert?

I came across an advert by Corporate Staffing Services in one of the Kenyan job websites and applied for the job immediately.

2. How long had you been job searching before coming across your current job?
I sent my first application on January 2016. Later on I was shortlisted for three interviews with different companies, with Corporate Staffing being my fourth one in August 2016.

I had been job searching for exactly 8 months.

3. What are your thoughts on the recruitment process, i.e from job application to getting hired?
I witness that Corporate Staffing is a professional company, they mean what they do and are so straight forward and thorough.

All they require from candidates is you must be qualified to meet the job descriptions and be able to prove your skills for the job. There is no short cut to it!

4. Based on your experience, would you say there is growth in your specific industry?
I am a Marketer by profession. In the 8 years that I have been in the field, I have realised I love my career and aspire to strengthen it to higher levels.

My advice to job seekers in the Marketing field, is to caution them from running for any job they come across, just because they are jobless.

Take your time to realize your dream and work towards growing it. It’s easier and more fun to get a job you are passionate about and got the skills required.

5. Would you say CSS added value to your job search? If so, how?
Of course YES. I got to know about the job through Corporate Staffing website. They took me through the job description and requirements, pointing out the specific qualifications and skills that employers are looking for.

Based on my skills and qualifications, I was able to bring this out and meet my current employer’s expectations.

6. What is your advice to candidates who are almost giving up on their job search?
I would tell candidates looking for a job to never give up. Just because you have not been shortlisted in a position you applied for does not mean you are not qualified. You only need to work on what you are not doing right, probably your CV.

Seek qualified recruiting companies like Corporate Staffing Services for advice based on your previous skills and/or education. If you have a mixture of job skills, I suggest you pick one that is of much interest to you and concentrate on it.

Employers like to see consistency on your career and of course growth.

7. Have you used any of our other services?
Actually, it was my first time. I kept seeing job adverts, but never thought it was real or possible until I tried it, and with no regrets. I will always recommend your services.

8. Anything else you might want to add?
I am happy to have gotten an opportunity to work outside the country, it’s such a good experience. I now believe that recruiting companies are real and not corrupt as most people tend to think.

For the job seekers, As long as you have what it takes, I guarantee you that all is possible.

What’s Your Story?

That was the story of Florence. She is now a Sales Account Manager at Kim Fay in Uganda, a job she got through CSS. If your job search is yet to yield good fruits, check back at the mistakes you could be making. As Florence says above, as long as you have the qualifications and skills needed, you will get that job matching your skills.

Do you still believe using recruitment agencies is a waste of time or has this shaken up your beliefs? Let us know in the comments below.
