On Friday morning, the internet breathed a welcome (if short-lived) sigh of relief when Donald Trump’s Twitter account was deleted by a cheeky employee.
His account suddenly disappeared from the web for 11 minutes and it was originally unclear why.
In a tweet Friday morning, Twitter confirmed that the account was deactivated “by a Twitter customer support employee who did this on the employee’s last day.”
Earlier today @realdonaldtrump’s account was inadvertently deactivated due to human error by a Twitter employee. The account was down for 11 minutes, and has since been restored. We are continuing to investigate and are taking steps to prevent this from happening again.

According to Twitter, the company is conducting a “full internal review” of how this terrible event could have possibly happened.
Twitter later tweeted that it was because of “human error,” and that the company was investigating further.
