Raila Junior, the youngest son of Nasa leader Raila Odinga, has dropped the most telling hint yet that he may be joining politics, atleast going by recent posts on his Twitter handle.

Until recently, the younger Raila had been widely considered a reserved member of the Odinga family. But off late he has consistently shared his opinion in the wake of the tense political situation in the country.

His most telling remarks on social media came last Friday when he posted messages and photos that captured his father’s grand homecoming that turned ugly.

While donning an identical sleeveless puff jacket to his father’s, Junior was part of Nasa supporters who turned up in their numbers at the JKIA to welcome Mr Odinga home from the US.

The grand reception whoever turned chaotic as the police engaged Nasa supporters in day-long street battles in an effort to disperse them and foil a planned rally at Nairobi’s Uhuru Park.

Junior’s dalliance with politics could mean that he becomes the third member from the Odinga’s immediate family to do so.

His elder brother, the late Fidel Odinga, was widely perceived as Mr Odinga’s heir apparent before he met his death under mysterious circumstances in January 2015.

Then came the vibrant and likeable Rosemary Odinga, who even declared her intentions to vie for the Kibra parliamentary seat. She however fell sick in early 2017 and was hospitalized for close to two and half months in a South African hospital.

She thereafter stepped down on medical grounds.
