The internet wars surrounding Nasa’s Safaricom boycott is getting ugly. Over the weekend, an undated photo surfaced on social media showing Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o at an M-Pesa shop.
Governor Nyong’o, in the photo, can be seen writing on a piece of paper while standing next to an M-Pesa banner.
The photo has sparked an exchange of barbs over the commitment of Nasa leaders and supporters to their declared boycott of Safaricom products.
Safaricom seems irresistible. The exonomic BOYCOTT sounds good in ENGLISH but hard to be carried out practically. Kisumu Senator Professor Anyang Nyongo spotted on an MPESA shop transacting some cash. Boycott ni wewe. @AnyangNyongo http://pic.twitter.com/JGAdNZAz2S

Nasa leaders led by Raila Odinga last week publicly subscribed to Safaricom’s archrival Airtel.
Nairobi News has not established whether the photo was taken before or after the declared boycott.
The Nyong’o photo has elicited mixed reactions online.
