The inauguration of President Uhuru Kenyatta for his second term will lack some protocol often witnessed when power changes hands from an incumbent to a president-elect.

Mr Kenyatta is expected to take his oath in office at the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani, in the presence of thousands of people who streamed into the stadium as early as 2am.

The ceremony has been organized with military precision will cost approximately sh384 million.

Here are the five key protocols that often mark the handover of the instruments of power that will not be done at President’s Kenyatta’s swearing-in on Tuesday.

  • A sword signifying Commander in Chief of the Defence Forces.
  • The handing over of the constitution.
  • The aide-de-camp (ADC) will not have to switch to a new president.
  • The president’s Motorcade will not change.
