KCPE candidates at Westlands Primary School got a pleasant surprise visitor on Wednesday before seating for their morning exam.

The presidential motorcade brought activities at the school to a standstill before president elect Uhuru Kenyatta stepped out to greet the pupils.

The president cheerily hugged and high-fived the candidates before the start of the Science paper.

The KCPE examinations are on their second day.

“We have done everything we can to ensure that your exams are going to be done in an orderly and transparent manner so that every single child in Kenya has an equal opportunity,” said the President when he spoke to the pupils.

He assured the pupils that free secondary education will be waiting for them next year.

“Love God, love your country, love your parents and be faithful to all of them including your teachers because they spent a lot of time on you,” said the President.

His visit comes in the wake of Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i ban of politicians from visiting schools during the examination period.
