Our client is one of the leading ethical clothing factories in the world. Garments produced by them have been worn by Michelle Obama on numerous occasions and their work is regularly featured in international publications. The organisation runs a charitable trust that provides women with practical skills needed to see a sustainable improvement in their lives and lift themselves out of poverty. The Trust Project includes a sewing training facility, a sewing machine workspace, Days for Girls Programme, WASH programme and delivery of training programmes to five locations in the local community. They are currently seeking to recruit a Deputy Project Officer who be responsible for executing tasks that are directly focusing on providing people with skills needed to see a sustainable improvement in their lives and lift them out of poverty.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement the project activities and timetable as defined by his/her supervisor.
  • With the help of Project Assistant facilitate carrying out community mobilization and facilitate training among the community members.
  • Work with the Project Officer in tracking and analyzing the budget utilization/expenditure for project activities and events.
  • Work with the Project Officer to draft budgets and project proposals for new projects and extensions of ongoing projects as required.
  • Assist in defining the approach with local stakeholders.
  • Participate in conducting joint assessments and planning responses together with other team and follow up on the recommendations.
  • Identifying areas of synergy in the field with the relevant line ministries and other implementing agencies working within the sub-national levels.
  • Providing support in preparing periodic substantive reports for implementing partners against donor contributions, projects and activities.
  • Regularly monitor the program activities and Community Trainers at field level.
  • Continuously review WASH, Days for Girls and Livelihoods strategy and programme approaches to appropriately address and accommodate emerging field context.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Social sciences.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ working experience with the community or other vulnerable populations.
  • Proficiency in IT including the ability to use MS application packages (Word, Excel and database software).
  • Must have experience in Livelihood Programming and Training.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing programme priorities and deal with emergencies that may arise.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in organizing training and development activities
  • Must be flexible, and willing to work under pressure.
  • Conscientious and responsible.
  • Must be passionate about making a difference to vulnerable participant’s lives.
