A student at Egerton University hacked his girlfriend to death on Monday before attempting suicide.
Fourth year student Edmond Ruto brutally killed Cynthia Chelagat, who is also a student at the institution, following a yet to be established reason.

He hacked Cynthia to death in her house in Njokerio area, outside university’s main campus in Njoro.
He then attempted to commit suicide but was stopped by neighbours.
