Operations Camp Director

Our client, owners of 2 permanent camps and a number of mobile camps, is looking for a very dynamic and hands-on Operations Camp Director. The successful candidate will be in charge of overseeing the mobile camps setups and demolition, as well as overseeing the day to day camp operations, including but not limited to procurement, staff engagement and retention. He /She will also assist with budgeting and planning. MUST have experience dealing with high-net-worth clients and handling community relations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Management of the organisation’s camp staff, assets and facilities.
• Inspiring a large team to deliver at a high level consistently.
• Responsible for Security at camp.
• Coordination & supervision of all administrative functions touching Camp management.
• Budget creation, accountability and proper bookkeeping of funds assigned.
• Keep an up to date record of all camp inventory and assets.
• Provide advice and information to management and employees on best practices for the proper management of camp logistics.
• Representing the organisation in conciliation meetings if needed, to ensure that camps are well set up and are acceptable to the community.
• Help the HR department to analyze the skills and qualities required for each particular job and in the absence of the HR, to assist in conveying job descriptions and duty statements.
• Oversee a fleet of vehicles assigned to the camp.
• Ensure stocks are controlled through periodical item tracking procedures.
• Ensuring that set SOPs and standards are observed by different departments.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree or Diploma in Hotel Management.
• At least 10 years’ experience in the hospitality sector preferably in the bush.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Very creative – to bring new ideas and concepts.
• Strong organization skills and show great attention to detail.
• Enthusiastic and energetic hands-on individual with outstanding communication skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships.
• Willing to travel.
