Operations Manager for a Travel Group in Nairobi

Our client, a travel company focusing on business and leisure travel, is looking for an Operations Manager for its office in Nairobi. The successful candidate will manage and oversee the day to day activities of the Travel, Tours and Sales Teams. He/She will provide support to the Managing Director when it comes to report writing, tenders, strategy, direction, and liaison with high level clients and other Directors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interact regularly with the Finance Director provide the team with high level support in regard to credit management and debt collection as/when required.
• Liaise with the airlines, hotels, Travelport, Amadeus and other key suppliers on behalf of the Travel and Tours teams, in order to improve upon the deals and contracts with them.
• Oversee day to day client communications and ensure clients are not being made to wait for email responses and that the quotes to clients continue to be competitive.
• Take a keen interest in the web site/online platform and the related Hub Spot data capture and digital marketing aspects of the site.
• Cover for MD, together with the Finance Director, when travelling.
• Instill disciplines in the front office among all team members and handle, together with Finance Director, key HR functions as required.
• Visit key clients and ensure the weekly program of the sales team is delivering results in terms of client retention and sourcing for new corporate clients.
• Tracks Competitors developments.
• Ensures quality of service and the fulfilment of the brand’s quality promise.

Qualifications:

• College/University education- added advantage within travel & tourism sector.
• At least 5 years of experience in the Tourism sector in a similar role.
• Proven organizational and communication skills.
• Understanding of the local & international markets, along with strong trade networks in the local & international markets are essential.
• Excellent people and interpersonal skills.
• Outstanding written & oral communication skills in English essential.
