The University of Nairobi vice chancellor Prof Peter Mbithi on Thursday warned first year female students to beware of senior male students who may want to take advantage of them.

While addressing the first year students, Prof Mbithi also warned against risky sexual behavior.

Prof Mbithi also told the first year students that university life has a lot of freedom that should be enjoyed responsibly.

He added that the university will co-operate with law enforcement agencies to deal with students who break the law.

Prof Mbithi urged the first year students not to be caught up in illicit relationships that may cost them their lives adding that the administration is ready to help in all ways so students should feel free to speak up and ask for help.

Stern warnings were issued for students who fail to attend lectures or cheat in examinations with the vice chancellor saying action shall be taken on such students.

Prof Mbithi welcomed the students to the university urging them to be vigilant and walk in small groups especially at night as the institution is located in the CBD.
