Tanzanian media on Wednesday, January 25, reported that the country’s top gospel singer Rose Muhando is badly affected with an illness.

A Tanzanian weekly even quoted Muhando saying that she is “critically ill”.

Last year December, Rose Muhando shared with Mwanaspoti Newspaper her struggle with leg pain and rashes.

“Normally, it is my legs that ache often. But about the rashes, I honestly don’t know the cause. They (rashes) were too itchy to a point I would feel as if someone was pricking my skin with a needle. When I visited the hospital, they did not find any health problem. The doctors only gave me pain killers.

“The rashes would later dry up but leave many black spots on my body. They had such a burning sensation to a point I thought I would die. But now I am recovering,” said Rose Muhando.

A Tanzanian weekly mid this week claimed Rose Muhando’s above condition has worsened. She has disputed the claims in an exclusive interview with EDAILY.

“I am doing well. As I speak to you, I am from a meeting in Moshi. I had toured Kilimanjaro and Kisumu recently. I am looking forward to what will come up tomorrow and the subsequent days.

“I am very healthy. That explains why I am able to attend far-off meetings. Our media sometimes reports nonfactual information. Whenever someone withdraws to his or her cocoon – and disappears from the public eye, you’d see them write that the person is depressed or is critically ill. Some journalists from these sides do little to verify authenticity of the reports people feed them with. I don’t understand their intention.

“Some people disguise as my friends, only to feed the media reports blown out of proportion about my life. Sadly, the media ends up receiving all the flak, while it is the fake friends who should be the recipients of disapproval.

“It is true I was ailing, but not to the extent Tanzanian media reported. I am alive and well. I don’t like how media in our country reports issues around public figures. If they make an attempt of calling you, they’ll insist in their line of questioning that you are not well, while in reality, you are fine. People who rejoice at others’ woes do not impress me at all.

“I thank you for reaching out to confirm my situation; instead of reporting what is not factual,” Rose Muhando told EDAILY.

Expect my fifth album in July, 2017

Rose Muhando, who has been missing from the music scene for a while now, says she has not ditched music – and that she is working on her fifth album slated for release in July, 2017.

“I have been silent because I am currently very busy. For example, I often get locked in meetings every other week; but I am currently working on an album that is slated for release in July this year,” she said.

Rose Muhando is currently living in Dodoma, where she is running her own businesses.

I don’t abuse drugs!

Rose Muhando, who in the past faced accusations of abusing hard drugs, has refuted the claims, saying people behind the statements only want to sabotage and ruin her reputation.

“I have been hearing those rumours (about me being a drug addict). I would say they are baseless. There are people targeting to bring me down musically, but their plans have not yet succeeded. I am well and I promise I will get back (in the music sphere) with a bang. I already know who started spreading the rumours. I leave it to God to deal with him,” said Rose Muhando.

Rose Muhando was born in 1976 in Dumila Village, Morogoro Province.

She was initially a Muslim before converting to Christianity when she was 9-years-old. She had been ailing for three years – all through in bed –, and when she fully recovered she converted to Christianity.

Rose Muhando’s albums include: Mteule Uwe Macho, Kitimutimu, Jipange Sawasawa and Utamu wa Yesu.
