Kenya’s Foreign Secretary Amin Mohamed has lost her bid to become the chairperson of the African Union.

She lost to Chad’s Moussa Faki Mahamat on Monday by 12 votes (38 t0 26) after seven rounds of voting.

Since her nomination, President Kenyatta sent special envoys to 53 countries across the continent including Namibia.

Mr Mahamat will take over from South Africa’s Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma who has served for the last four years.
