ruto

Deputy President William Ruto was forced to use an alternative route to Kanduyi Constituency, where he was to address a rally Monday after youth barricaded the Mumias – Bungoma road, protesting – what they termed – poor leadership by Jubilee administration.

The youth, who were chanting anti-Jubilee slogans while singing praise for CORD principals, Raila Odinga and Moses Wetangula, tore Jubilee-branded T-shirts on the road, rendering the route impassable.

“We refuse to be addressed by Jubilee leaders who have neglected us for long. We are now-enlightened, and vow to back the opposition in August 8 general election,” a protester was heard saying.

DP Ruto, who was slated to address Bungoma Town residents, was forced to divert to the Musikoma, Mateka and Siritanyi route to access Kanduyi Constituency, where he addressed a gathering, faulting the Opposition on their development agenda.

“Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka did nothing to better the lives of Kenyans when they were in government as Prime Minister and Vice President respectively.  As leaders in the Jubilee government we have provided better medical services to Kenyans, we have connected houses to electricity, and we have put in place railway system that will efficiently serve Kenyans. Choose a government that has a plan, not the Opposition who are only good at demonstrating,” Ruto said.
