phy

In this week’s episode of the Saturday Nine Questions, we feature Phy Mwihaki Ng’etich.

Phy is a celebrated artiste who won the Maisha Superstar competition, and has done a couple of collaborations with different East African artistes.

Her hit single Taboo catapulted her to the limelight.

Here are Phy’s responses on the Saturday Nine:

  1. Where were you born and raised?

I was born and raised in Sotik

  1. Where did you school?

I went to Sotik academy and went to Moi high school in Eldoret.

  1. How was it growing up in a small town?

Growing up in a small town, I felt like I was sheltered because I did not have much exposure, so my radio and TV was all I had to connect with the outside world.

This makes feel grounded as an artiste because of where I came from.

  1. Are you a daddy’s girl?

Yes I am daddy’s girl and would describe myself as one . My daddy is my best friend and my everything.

  1. What does a guy has to do to win your dad’s approval?

Just don’t exist (joking and laughing). The guy has to be really serious with me and has to have his life together; vision, focus and purpose.

  1. How has it been sharing stages with East Africa’s greats?

It has been amazing and a bit unreal for me, being a village girl. These were people that I used to hear on radio and watch them on TV. To me this is a dream                    come true because I                  really worked hard for this.

  1. The misconception that people have about you?

People tend to think that am a city girl (laughs). I am a village girl and started living in Nairobi just the other day. Maybe it is because of the music that I do and my style of fashion, that makes             people think that am a cool kid. I am from the village.

  1. Did you have culture shock when you came to Nairobi?

No, I did not have culture shock when I came to Nairobi. I was well versed with life and I had so much exposure because I used to travel a lot.

  1. Are you single and who is your music icon?

I am seeing someone and we are actually turning five in July, so I have been seeing someone for a really long time (laughs).

Phy boyfriend

My music icon is Wiz kid.
