Moses Gift Osinya, an adopted son of Nairobi Senator, Mike Sonko, was on Monday admitted into one of the best schools in Kenya, Lenana School.

Gift was one of the top performers in the 2016 KCPE examinations with a score of 399 marks.

The senator and his wife, who accompanied the boy on his first day in high school, shared pictures of the occasion on social media.

“I wish to take this opportunity on behalf of my lovely wife and on my own behalf to congratulate my adopted son Gift Osinya the boy who rescued his younger brother Satrin during terror attack in which their mother was brutally murdered,” the senator wrote on his Facebook page.

The senator also encouraged those missed a chance to join secondary school not see themselves as failures in life.

SH 2 MILLION REWARD

“So many wish to excel in academics but only a few achieve this kind of success do not give up in life,” he wrote.

Last month when KCPE results were announced the flamboyant senator announced on social media that he had rewarded his adopted son with a Sh2million educational account for his exemplary performance.

Sonko and his wife took up the role of educating Gift and his younger brother Satrin after their mother, Veronica Osinya, was killed in a terror attack in a Mombasa church in March 2014 during an incident in which more than 15 worshipers were injured.

In the wake of the terror attack, a photo of Gift cuddling his younger brother, Satrin, who had a bullet lodged in his head, that was published in the media elicited a national outpouring of compassion and goodwill.

The young Satrin would later be airlifted to Nairobi where doctors successfully removed the bullet from his head.
