The High Court, for the second time, has extended voter registration for another three days.
Justice Enoch Chacha on Thursday ruled that a case by activist Okiya Omtatah challenging the electoral commission’s voter listing deadline has merit.
The court on Tuesday extended the deadline set by the commission, February 14, to Thursday.
He rejected the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission’s submission that it would continue listing voters after the mass listing ends on Thursday.
The IEBC, he said, did not table evidence to show that the voter registration would still continue.
The judge has also pointed out that the issue of national identification cards and the birth certificates for registration is valid and needs to be determined.
Mr Omtatah wants Kenyans who have attained 18 year but are yet to secure IDs allowed to list as voters using birth certificates.
