Kenya jobs,

Despite Kenya being a third world country (which is a nice way of saying  ‘Kenya is poor’), we are lucky to have a good number of big shots. These big shots are self-made millionaires and billionaires, who worked their way to the top, not by winning a bet on Sportpesa, but by literally putting in the hours and the effort to become successful.

It will be interesting to know then, how these big-wigs spend their weekends. Do they stay in the house all day? Do they also like to watch movies like most people do on the weekend? Let’s find out.

How To Spend Your Weekend Like A Kenyan Millionaire

1.Wake up at the same time as you do during the week

James Mworia, the CEO of Centum Investment and the highest paid CEO says that he wakes up at 4.30 am every day. (Mind you, he makes 17 Million per month) On most weekends, he wakes up at the same time he does during the week.

Speaking to Amina Mohammed of K24 , Mworia says that he allows himself to take a few extra hours of sleep a few times, but there’s so much to be done, which is why he has to be up early.

Research also shows that having a consistent sleep cycle is great for your productivity and success. When you sleep past your regular wake-up time on the weekend, you end up feeling groggy and tired.  (I’m sure you’ve experienced this.)

This affects your mood for the rest of the day. That said, successful people maintain a regular sleep cycle, even on the weekend.

Tip: If you would like to sleep more, go to bed earlier.

2. Plan the upcoming week

Did you know that 80% of the world is owned by 20% of the population? The people who make up this percentage spend a good amount of time during the weekend to plan the coming week.

Failing to plan is planning to fail. It’s dangerous to walk into a new week without a plan.

3. Disconnect from the Internet and Social Media

You will be surprised to know that the wife to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg,  does not use Facebook. So, take a break from your phone this weekend.

You will agree with me that social media can be very addictive and sometimes the biggest time waster and dream killer.

Successful people know this and they spend their weekends away from the internet to spend time doing other activities.

For example, they spend time with family and friends, they exercise by going for a run, riding bicycles, going for a swim, etc.

Do you have a hobby that does not involve your phone? The weekend is the perfect time to do it! I personally enjoy riding bicycles on the weekend. It’s not only a form of exercise but a time for me to play and relax.

4. Take Classes

There’s so much to learn in the world, and most successful people spend a few hours of their weekend learning something new. Whether that’s learning how to play chess, piano, golf etc.

I have two friends who each take classes on the weekend and after work. One studies sign language and the other studies psychology.

As James Mworia keeps saying, the biggest investment you can ever make is in yourself.

Sign up for a class today!

5. Reflect

Successful people use their weekends to reflect. They ask themselves the following questions:

1.How was the week?

2.What did I accomplish?

3.What didn’t I accomplish?

4.What were my weaknesses?

5.What were my threats?

6.What are the current opportunities?

Self-evaluation is a key ingredient to success.
