The Orange Democratic Movement has planned raft of rallies at the Coast in a bid to consolidate its base barely a few days after Jubilee concluded its tour of the region.
The rallies, set to begin on Thursday this week, will cover all the six counties at the Coast.
The rallies will be spearheaded by ODM deputy party leader and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and are perceived to be aimed at neutralizing possible Jubilee influence in the region.
ODM national chairman John Mbadi said Mr Joho will take charge of the programme.

“The rallies have been planned by our deputy party leader Joho and will cover the coastal region which still remains firmly ODM zone,” Mr Mbadi said.
ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen said the rallies are part of the Jumuia ya Kaunti za Pwani initiative (JKP) aimed at embracing regional unity of the Coastal counties.
According to a planned schedule of the visits to be coordinated by Mr Joho, Kilifi governor Amason Kingi and Senator Stewart Madzayo, the rallies will start in Taita Taveta County on Thursday and proceed to Lamu and Tana River counties on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
On Tuesday next Week, the ODM brigade will pitch tent in Kilifi County before heading to Kwale on Thursday March 23 and will have its last major rally at Tononoka grounds in Mombasa County on Sunday March 26, the venue where Jubilee held its rally last Sunday.
UHURU TOUR
President Uhuru Kenyatta concluded his four-day tour of Coast counties on Monday where he commissioned various projects.
His sentiments against Mr Joho generated debate after he accused the governor and his Kilifi counterpart Mr Kingi of being all talk with nothing to show for billions their counties had been allocated.
Mr Joho had been barred from attending the Mtongwe ferry re-launch presided over by President Kenyatta.
ODM later accused the Head-of-State of undermining its governors including Turkana’s Josephat Nanok.
