‘Several buried’ as avalanche hits France

Several people are feared to have been caught in an avalanche in the French ski resort of Tignes.

Witnesses said "a lot of people" had been buried, a police spokesperson said.

Media reports said the avalanche had hit skiers.

Last month four snowboarders were killed when an avalanche hit an off-piste area of the same resort. -BBC
