Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has branded his opponent for Jubilee Party’s ticket for Nairobi gubernatorial race, Peter Kenneth, as a “corrupt” person who is not fit to govern the capital.
In a Facebook post, the former Makadara MP accused Mr Kenneth, whom he referred to as “his main opponent”, of siphoning funds from the Kenya Reinsurance company where he previously served as Managing Director.
“When he was a manager, records are clear that he messed up Kenya Re and was recued (sic) by his once upon a time fiancee and a poweful (sic) secretary of state from being prosecuted,” Sonko wrote.
Sonko and Kenneth are among the Jubilee Party politicians who are seeking to unseat Governor Evans Kidero during the August 8 general election.
The others in the race are Nominated MP, Johnson Sakaja, former Starehe MP, Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, and Dagoretti South MP, Dennis Waweru.
There however seems to be a lot of animosity between Sonko and Kenneth whose supporters recently clashed in the city.
