Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko says the phrase coined by Nairobi Governor Dr Evans Kidero – that “Ben10s” should not be given opportunity to govern the county – was indirectly directed toward him.

Speaking on Citizen Extra Swahili edition on Friday, March10, Sonko claimed such referrals are used by his political competitors, who are scared by his popularity among Nairobi residents.

“I think Kidero was referring to me as a Ben10,” said Sonko.

“He uses a lot of English. We know before he became Nairobi Governor, he was the chief executive officer of sugar manufacturing company, Mumias Sugar, and he embezzled funds while there,” added Sonko.

Dr Kidero in August, 2015, however, denied allegations that he pocketed KSh650 million paid to Mumias Sugar Company by a trader when he served as managing director.

Sonko, indirectly taking a swipe at Dr Kidero, claimed one’s education level does not necessarily translate into good leadership.

“Even those leaders who have PhDs, the so-called managers, sometimes (engage in dubious activities). I request to be a guest on upcoming Jeff Koinange show so that I can carry with me all evidence of the allegations I have leveled against Kidero,” said Sonko, adding: “My fight with Kidero is ideological, not physical.”

Sonko and Kidero have both expressed interest in running for Nairobi gubernatorial seat in August, 8 2017 polls.

Sonko can't be a governor anyway...Does he even know how to pronounce the term devolution or rather gubernatorial position?
