Uber Chief Executive Officer Travis Kalanick has apologised and admitted that he needs to ‘grow up’ after a video showing him arguing with a driver went viral.
In the video clip, which was captured by the driver’s dash cam, the co-founder of the company is seen arguing with a driver who is blaming his losses on the company’s reduced rates for rides.
But Kalanick responds by saying: “Some people don’t like to take responsibility for their own sh*t. They blame everything in their life on somebody else. Good luck!”

However, after the video went viral, Kalanick released a statement saying he was ashamed for treating the driver disrespectfully and he apologized to the driver and others.
“It’s clear this video is a reflection of me – and the criticism we’ve received is a stark reminder that I must fundamentally change as a leader and grow up. This is the first time I’ve been willing to admit that I need leadership help and I intend to get it,” he wrote in his statement released later.
The incident comes at a time when Uber drivers in Kenya are embroiled in a disagreement with the company over reduced rates for rides which they claim is affecting their business.
