Renowned NTV editor Larry Madowo on Friday shocked his audience when he unceremoniously announced his exit from the station to try his hand in politics.
Larry announced his decision at the end of his popular show The Trend.
Mr Madowo announced his sudden departure, which caught his crew at the twin towers flat-footed.
The polular news anchor will be running as a Member of Parliament in Alego Usoga in Siaya on an ODM ticket.
Speaking to Nairobi News after his show, Mr Madowo said that he hopes people from his constituency will accept him as their next member of parliament.
“I ran for office a while back as a student for Daystar University students association (DUSA) and after listening and watching what Boniface Mwangi and Kinoti Gatobu have been doing, I have decided to run,” said Mr Madoawo.
Born Larry Omondi Madowo, the most sought after anchor was born on July 14, 1987.
He is a Kenyan journalist and a news anchor who specializes in technology, current affairs and entertainment.
Sources close to him said that if he loses his nomination through ODM he will run as an independent candidate and hopes people of Alego Usoga, Siaya will rally behind him.
Mr Madowo is not the first journalist to quit his job in 2017.
