Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko on Monday ambushed dignitaries at the Labour Day fete at Uhuru Park when he paraded vehicles from his much touted Rescue Team.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto were left in stitches as the vehicles drove past. Nairobi governor Evans Kidero was unfazed.

Sonko’s vehicles included a limousine, a bus, several minibuses and Mercedes Benzes, as well as exhausters and water bowsers.

Sonko, who won the Jubilee Party ticket to vie for governorship, will take on Dr Kidero in the August 8 general election.

When invited to speak, Dr Kidero invited the senator to make his remarks where he requested President Kenyatta to check on the price of maize flour. Dr Kidero echoed Sonko’s remarks.
