Wambui drops a World Lead to lead Kenya 1-2 sweep

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 16 – Jackline Wambui produced a breathtaking performance to lead a Kenyan 1-2 sweep in the Girls 800m dropping a World Lead of 2:01.46 on final day of the 2017 IAAF World U18 Championships at a full capacity Moi International Sports Center Kasarani on Sunday.

With Kenya failing to win gold yesterday, Wambui and her compatriot Lydia Jeruto who grabbed silver in a Personal Best of 2:02.06 brought to home crowd up on their feet when they delivered to ensure Kenya retain the title.

Ethiopian Hirut Meshesha settled for bronze in a time of 2:06.32.
