The Supreme Court has this morning issued an order invalidating the election of Uhuru Kenyatta as president of Kenya.
In a judgement read out by Chief Justice David Maraga, the court found that the election conducted by IEBC on August 8th, were not free and fair. This decision was arrived at by a majority decision, with two judges; Justice Njoki Ndungu and Justice Jackton Ojwang, giving a dissenting view.
The judges will be issuing a comprehensive judgement explaining how they arrived at the decision within 21 days, noting that due to the constitutional timelines, it was not humanely possible to write a full judgement by today.
The Supreme Court has thus ordered that a fresh election be conducted with 60 days.
This is a developing story.
