Nyali MP Mohammed Ali has once again come out strongly to condemn Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s family.

According to the former KTN investigative journalist, Joho’s elder brother has been threatening women in Nyali to write statements against his August 8 victory.

The end game of the threats, he said, is for a petition to be filed at Mombasa High Court.

Ali, who vied as an independent candidate, defeated Joho’s cousin Said Abdalla of ODM with over 10,000 votes.

Despite Abdalla’s concession, Ali alleges that the Joho family want him out by any means necessary, including plans to derail his performance in the constituency.

Ali was speaking to the press at Lotus Hotel in Mombasa on Tuesday where he claimed three of his female supporters were arrested and forced to write statements.

“We will not be cowed. We will stand against them. The women have refused to be coerced to change their loyalty,” said Ali.

“Abu Joho must understand and respect the will of the people. I was not selected, I was elected. If they have a culture of selecting leaders in Mombasa, that culture is done and dusted. The culture that is here is the will of the people and he must respect the will of the people,” stated Ali.
