Our client an NGO that combats gender inequality and extreme poverty in urban slums is looking for a Monitoring and Evaluation Director for their office in Nairobi. The ideal candidate will contribute to Org strategy, supervise M&E staff, develop program-specific reporting metrics that take donor requirements & impact measurement into account.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to org strategy & deliver against M&E ambitions while achieving high levels of service quality.
  • Develop & manage org M&E function Design.
  • Advocate for global leading practice methodology in the transformation of urban slums.
  • Work with the Transformation Manager, Grants Officer to develop data collation and aggregation tools.
  • Work with Site Directors to ensure effective data collection & transparency of program performance.
  • Integrate the use of technology, data platforms and GIS mapping for data collection, mgt & reporting.
  • Provide one-on-one technical assistance, mentoring and coaching for Program Officers.
  • Review and finalize Quarterly and Annual work plans.
  • Collaborate with the Grants Officer to produce donor reports, ensuring all reporting requirements are met.
  • Coordinate the design & implementation of baseline, mid-term & end of project evaluations and surveys.
  • Effectively communicate & engage key stakeholders on ORG strategy, transformation model & programs.
  • Work with the Transformation Manager and CAO team to provide timely information to donors.

Qualification:

  • Must have Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Demography, Economics or Development related field.
  • Must have a minimum of 8 years’ experience in establishing/ designing M&E systems and tools.
  • Must have experience of managing large, complex projects, involving many stakeholders.
  • Must have experience with qualitative and quantitative M&E data collection and analysis methods.
  • Demonstrated ability for in designing and managing operational research and evaluations.
  • Experience in program quality management (both services and data quality) improvement systems.
  • Strong leadership and analytical skills, with an ability to multi-task.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced computer skills in Word, PowerPoint and Excel (including v-lookups, pivot tables).
  • Intermediate to Advanced Salesforce skills, or aptitude to learn.
  • Detail-orientated and able to identify alternative solutions.
  • Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultures in the informal setting.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team and work flexible hours.
