Two police officers were on Saturday morning found dead in Kayole having been shot dead by unknown people.

The two who were attached to Kayole Police Station were found by their colleagues lying in a pool of blood by the roadside at 4am.

According to a police report, officers received information that gunshots were heard in Matopeni area.

“The officers responded and on arrival at the road towards Kayole North Primary School they found the two bodies,” read part of the police report.

The dead were identified as Police Constables Linus Inima and James Gitahi.

REPEAT ELECTION

The killers also took two pistols – a Jericho and a Ceska.

Eleven spent 7.62mm cartridges were found at the scene, suggesting the killers used a rifle, possibly an AK-47 rifle.

The bodies were transported to Kenyatta University Hospital Mortuary.

For the last two days, police have been clashing with protesters opposed to repeat presidential election held on Thursday.

Kayole was among Nairobi suburbs affected by the violence but it was not immediately clear if the killings were linked to the poll.
