A full blown tweef has erupted between human rights activist-turned-politician Boniface Mwangi and Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) chief execute Ezekiel Mutua.
On Friday the two engaged in a not so gentlemanly way as they hurled insults at each to the amusement of their followers on Twitter.
It also started with Mwangi’s post and a caricature of Mutua calling out the self-styled moral police. The activists choice of words were however not so diplomatic.
As you would expect, the outspoken Mutua returned the favour by telling off Mwangi and lecturing him on why he can never succeed in politics, in an apparent reference to Mwangi’s failed bid at capturing the Starehe parliamentary seat in the August general election.
HEATED EXCHANGE
But the fiery Mwangi was not yet done. He went ballistic with allegations touching on Mutua’s tenure at the helm of Kenya Union of Journalists (KUJ), which Mwangi was member during his time as a photojournalist.
The heated exchange excited their followers on Twitter who also weighed in with their views.
Two things need to be addressed here – respect for the elders (however wrong) and respect and guidance for the young adults/ professionals (however wrong). @EzekielMutua that is my appeal to both of you and others!

@InfoKfcb HAS NOT banned @sautisol Video, but called for ‘SubmissionforClassification’.Let us not JUDGE TOO FAST…commonly because some/most of us have an ‘issue’ with @EzekielMutua but instead let’s work with such Institutions to promote Moral Content. Mind you KFCB is a Board! http://pic.twitter.com/BEdMI5GOpi

Promotion of moral content is not under the purview of any of our public bodies. Morality is a personal decision not a state – enforced group choice.

Boniface, addressing this matter in this manner is beneath you. Remember there are youth still looking up to you. Choose your words wisely. Apply some emotional intelligence. THAT will distinguish you from the rest.
