UX Designer

Our client, a leading commercial Agricultural Company with an East African reach based in Kenya is seeking to recruit a young, energetic, innovative and experienced UX Designer to integrate complex science with mobile technology via simple and graphical interface to create a great UX. The successful candidate MUST have a solid portfolio with excellent problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Performing user testing for our web and mobile services.
• Develop new user-facing features.
• Translation of designer mock-ups and wireframes into front-end code.
• Optimize code/ applications for speed and scalability.
• Work in close collaboration with back-end developers.
• Creating and implementing surveys for direct customer feedback.
• Creating storyboards to reflect our wide varieties of customers.
• Analysing usage data and traffic patterns.
• Conducting A/B tests to measure customer response.
• Making style guides to define UI elements.
• Sketching ideas, designs and infographics.
• Prototyping products for user testing.

Qualifications:

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Must have a minimum of 5 years’ project management experience in a similar field.
• Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3.
• Basic understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms.
• Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery.
• Good understanding of JavaScript libraries and frameworks.
• Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX.
• Basic knowledge of image authoring tools, to be able to perform small adjustments on an image.
• Familiarity with tools such as Gimp or Photoshop is a plus.
• Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
• Must provide a portfolio of your work.
