Our client an NGO that combats gender inequality and extreme poverty in urban slums is looking for a Data Manager for their offices in Kibera. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating the process of collection, maintenance, and analysis of data, ensuring that employees of SHOFCO know and understand how to make use of data collected, and interpreting data collected in order to formulate effective community development solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determine data needed to be collected & the appropriate data resources for specific data projects.
  • Formulate, implement, and enforce proper data collection policies and procedures.
  • Train and educate staff on data collection tools and equipment.
  • Establish data quality standards & collaborate with stakeholders to ensure standards are met.
  • Perform & document procedures for data preparation incl. data cleaning, standardization & analysis.
  • Develop data collection & evaluation methodologies, incl. format design and project criteria.
  • Develop data collection & evaluation methodologies, incl. data compilation, relevancy & Usage.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual data reports for distribution to relevant management.
  • Contribute to the implementation of SHOFCO programs by providing data requirements.
  • Consult with staff on data coding problems and assist in developing means to correct issues faced.
  • Attend and participate in meetings concerning data management across the organization.

Qualification:

  • Must have Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Demography, Economics or Development related field.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Data Management.
  • Must have experience working in the setting.
  • Strong leadership and analytical skills, with ability to multi-task.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced computer skills in Word, PowerPoint and Excel (including v-lookups, pivot tables).
  • Detail-orientated and able to identify alternative solutions.
  • Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural in the informal setting.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team and work flexible hours.
  • Must be passionate about community development.
