Judge awards Sh4m to girl who was stripped searched by police

The High Court awarded Sh4 million to a high school female student who was stripped-searched by police officers two years ago.

High Court judge John Mativo said the police violated her dignity, right to privacy as well as Children’s Act.

The young girl was stripped naked and photographed after the bus she was travelling in for holidays was said to have been carrying drunken students.

Her pictures, being frisked by a female police officer, were shared widely on social media sparking off outrage.
