The Kenyan flag.

Kenyans from different walks of life on Tuesday marked the Jamhuri Day celebrations by spreading messages of peace on social media.

Jamuhuri Day celebrated every year on the 12th of December is one of the most important dates in the country’s calendar.

It commemorates the establishment of Kenya as a republic in 1964. President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to preside over the celebrations that are being held at the Kasarani Stadium.

This marks the first public holiday and event to be presided over by President Kenyatta in his second term in office.

Kenyans on Twitter preached peace, unity and prosperity. This is what they had to say.
