Kenyans on Wednesday tore into Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua over his tweet that rubbed them the wrong way.

Governor Mutua had tweeted his condolence message mourning Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze who died at Nairobi Hospital on Wednesday.

In his condolence message, the governor wrote; “I am saddened by the passing of Hon. Nyenze – a good man, a friend and a voice of reason. He was a smart & diplomatic leader who cared about his people. He told me he was fed up with sycophancy perpetuated in our region and supported my politics of development. I will miss him.”

The late MP succumbed to colon cancer on Wednesday, after resiliently fighting the disease for close to a decade.

The late Nyenze touched off a political firestorm in Ukambani when he and former Kitui Senator David Musila endorsed the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

On Twitter Kenyans condemned the governor for what he wrote. Here are some of the reactions.
