Energy CS Charles Keter has announced that there will be no backdating of power bills as earlier indicated in a Kenya Power report.
The CS added that the inflated bills currently experienced by analogue consumers is due to a faulty estimates of meter readings, which is due to be corrected with the implementation of a new billing system which will be finalised by end of the month.
Faulty estimates have affected 2.4 million customers on the analogue postpaid system since July last year.
Prepaid meter owners (3.9 million) remain unaffected.
Kenya Power has a total of 6.4 million customers.
More to follow.
