Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has divided opinion on social media after siding with Miguna Miguna and accusing the police of mistreating him while he is in custody.
Mr Miguna has been in police custody since Friday despite a court order for his release being issued the same day he was arrested at his Runda home in Nairobi.
In a tweet, an outraged Ms Passaris vented her anger at the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett and Internal Security Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i for violating Miguna’s rights.
She lamented the unlawful detention of Miguna and the police’s decision to deny him access to medical treatment after her reportedly suffered an Asthma attack in custody on Sunday.
RAPE REMARKS
Most Kenyans on Twitter however expressed shock with Passaris’s stance reminding her how ‘awful’ Miguna has been to her in the past.
KOT particularly sought to remind Passaris of a past incident on live TV when Mr Miguna made offensive remarks about her touching on rape.
At the time the two were both had expressed interest in contesting for the gubernatorial seat in the 2017 general election. Ms Passaris later shelved her ambitions and instead successfully contested for the Woman Representative seat.
A number of users criticized Passaris for coming to the defense of the fiery self-declared NRM general:

But there also those who hailed her for her sobriety:
So some people think Passaris should celebrate dictatorship / arrest of innocent people because they differed with her sometimes back.
