Operations Manager – East Africa

Operations Manager required for this leading global producer of Calcium Carbonate. They are a worldwide distributor of Speciality Chemicals & fertilizers and are looking to fill the position of Operations Manager to be in charge of their East Africa plant. The successful candidate will be based in Nairobi, MUST have senior management experience in manufacturing in a similar industry and be willing to travel within East Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

• Timely and accurate reporting as requested by Management and Group Function.
• Efficiently operate production within budget.
• Maintain process plant to guarantee the operating efficiency, implement a schedule and routine maintenance.
• Secure and maintain minimum stocks, from consumables through to finished goods, in order to avoid any unforeseen disruption to ongoing business activities.
• Assume responsibility of Legal & Sustainability compliance.
• Participate in new investment studies & operational improvements as advised by the GM.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering.
• Must have manufacturing knowledge in East Africa.
• Must have over 5 years’ management experience in Chemical/Minerals.
• Excellent ability for planning, development and operations.
• Ability to find solutions and proactive problem-solving.
• Experience to manage projects and drive to completion.
