Farm Manager – Bomet

Our client a well-established farm based in Bomet that supplies fresh produce to schools, camps, and the community is looking to recruit a Farm Manager. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 4 years’ experience working as a farm manager. He /she must have experience managing over 15 people.

Key Responsibilities:

• Budgeting and maintaining accurate financial records for the firm.
• Handling paperwork and keeping administrative records for the farm.
• Recruiting, training/ instructing and supervising farm workers on need basis with agreement with the HR.
• Ensuring compliance with government regulations and health and safety standards.
• Keeping an up to date knowledge of pests and diseases and how to control and what pesticides to be used.
• Ensuring that the farm is profitable and meets projected financial targets.
  Organising maintenance/repair of farm property, equipment and machinery.
• Ensure sustainability of the farm.
• Oversee the collective farms from start to finish.
• Provide leadership to the team to ensure a successful project.
• Ensure harmonious relations between the farm and the neighbours.
• Ensure the farm is making profit and that the community is benefiting.
• Be a source of information, inspiration and target setting for your team.
• Report quarterly budgets to the supervisor.
• Be the eyes and ears of the community and provide community expression and perspective to the extended team.

Qualifications:

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture or agriculture-related fields.
• Must have at least 4 years working experience as a farm manager.
• Must have experience dealing with vegetables or fresh produce.
• Must be willing to relocate too Bomet.
• Must have experience managing over 15 people.
• Must have knowledge of the disease and pest control.
• Must possess good communication skills.
