Transport Secretary James Macharia has announced that Thika Superhighway will from today have one lane dedicated for public service vehicles.

Mr Macharia said this is part of government’s effort to ease mass rapid transport into the city.

A day earlier, Public Service Cabinet Secretary Prof Margaret Kobia had told a Senate committee that government will isolate dedicated expressways to fast-track buses to and from specified destinations.

Inspector-General of Police Joseph Boinnet said the plan to set aside the lanes for the PSVs has been in the works for some time and will come to fruition soon.
