Our client, a high-end Safari Company, is looking for a Head of Human Resource and Corporate Affairs for its offices in Nairobi. The successful candidate will be responsible to oversee all aspects of human resource practices and processes while supporting business needs and to ensure the proper implementation of company strategy and objectives. He/She will also provide support to the Directors in ensuring effective administration of company affairs as well as assist the Directors in achieving the company’s CSR objectives by implementing and co-coordinating a range of activities and initiatives, which are designed to have a positive impact on the environment and local communities.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Directors in assessing the staffing organizational structure, updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions as well as annual salary reviews.
- Responsible for recruitment – drawing up Letters of Appointment for new staff and handling the induction process.
- Assist the Directors in staff disciplinary proceedings to ensure that correct procedures are followed in compliance with employment law relating to warnings and dismissals.
- Represent the company at any disciplinary hearings.
- Manage the Company Pension and Health Insurance scheme.
- Manage the Payroll in liaison with the Accounts Department.
- Take responsibility for employee safety, welfare, wellness and health.
- Carry out staff performance reviews and assessments.
- Manage arrangements for staff events such Christmas party.
- Administration of staff loans with Banks and SACCO.
- Performing the duties of Company Secretary: taking minutes at board meetings, handling the use of the company seal.
- Assisting the Directors in any legal issues and dealings with lawyers and handling any contractual arrangements with other organizations.
- Managing the process of obtaining all required licenses and keeping licenses on file relating to the company at head office and the camps.
- Deal with landlord, Nairobi City Council, maintenance of office buildings and equipment.
- Signing LPOs and other finance requests for HO purchases as approved by the Directors.
- Supervising administrative staff: admin assistant, cleaners, messenger and caretaker.
- Managing the files of all lease agreements in the conservancies.
- Acting as the point of contact with the community liaison officer on matters to do with the Leases
- Maintaining contacts with local community leaders and acting on behalf of the company in negotiations with individual landowners in consultation with the Directors.
- Acting on behalf of the company in dealings with local authorities, county government officials, NEMA and other organizations relating to the conservancies.
- Act as internal and external representative for the company’s CSR policies.
- Maintain files and records relating to land and ensure Title Deeds are kept in safe storage.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ degree in any relevant related field.
- Over 5 years progressive hands-on experience in a similar role.
- HR Training an advantage.
- Excellent organizational skills organized with ability to multitask.
- Good oral and written communication skills with ability to use technology.
- Punctuality in regards to reporting time and work deadlines.
- Excellent management skills with ability to think analytically and work under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and able to communicate with people from all walks of life.
- Good report writing and presentation skills on Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other platforms.
