Our client is looking to recruit a detail-oriented Cook / Chef to be based in Nanyuki. The position’s key objective is to ensure the smooth supplies and management of inventory. The Chef will be responsible for ensuring that all kitchen/cooking responsibilities are executed. He/she should have basic culinary, table setting skills. Managerial experience will be an added advantage. The potential candidate must have at least a Diploma in Hotel Management or related field. He/she should be willing to live in Nanyuki. Accommodation will be provided. He/she must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring a high standard of cleanliness.
- Lead in the preparation of delicious meals to the highest standards.
- Supervise kitchen staff ensuring an appropriate work roster is developed and adhered to.
- Ensure that sufficient stocks of all ingredients are ordered and stored under the correct conditions.
- Ensure that all statutory hygiene requirements are diligently followed in food preparation.
- Ensure that maintenance problems are promptly reported.
- Ensure regular stock takes are conducted and secure.
- Hosting and catering to international guests.
Qualifications:
- Must have at least a Diploma in Hotel management &/or related field.
- Must have at least 5 years working experience as a cook/chef.
- Must have strong knowledge of high-end food market.
- Must possess the ability to stay calm and collected under pressure.
- Must possess good inventory management skills.
- Must possess good command of written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have worked in a multicultural environment.
- Must be able to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance.
- Must plan menus according to employers’ needs and diet restrictions.
- Must possess excellent culinary and table setting skills.
