The company requires a technician to handle farm related activities including; planning and management of field trials, crop health management, soil analysis, interpretation of soil analysis results, weed identification and research related to agronomy, pest management, fungal diseases and nutrition. The candidate will also be expected to support the company regarding communications between the company and regulatory bodies (KEPHIS, organic certification bodies, etc.). The candidate will be responsible for training ground staff and familiarizing them with the above. The roles mentioned above will take place across multiple locations in Kenya and Uganda.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning, developing and managing trials.
  • Responsible for the health of all crops in all locations.
  • Research in the fields of agronomy, pest control, disease management and plant nutrition.
  • Soil analysis and interpretation of results.
  • Weed identification and documentation.
  • Creation of a weed, pest and disease database.
  • Support and communicate with legal and regulatory bodies.
  • Writing weekly reports for all crops, fields and farms.
  • Engaging in trainings and workshops.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture.
  • 1-3 years farming experience.
  • Farming experience: Organic, small and large scale, Integrated Pest Management, fertility management and soil building.
  • Agronomy: plant science and crop health are of utmost importance.
  • Experience with processing and value addition of products.
  • An understanding of irrigation technology.
  • Computer literacy: Reporting, data collection and analysis, excel and word and email proficiency.
  • Fluent in English and Swahili.
  • Experience with training and working with community groups.
