A dynamic integrated healthcare network in East Africa that take pride in providing accessible, affordable and quality healthcare are seeking to recruit a Medical Superintendent to be based in Bungoma County. The Successful candidate will be in-charge of planning, supervision and provision of superior medical care at the out/inpatient departments and wards in the Hospital. The ideal candidate Must have prior experience in a similar role, a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and have a valid practicing License.
Key Responsibilities:
- Upgrading and maintaining the quality of medical care provided by health workers in the facility.
- Ward rounds, special teaching rounds and inspection tours to observe professional services given and the enforcement of hospital regulations.
- Assists in the supervision necessary to maintain high standards of general medical care and treatment in the hospital.
- Head the quality and patient safety team.
- Supervises the work of all medical staff and assists in the coordination of their activities with those of nursing, clinical and other auxiliary services.
- Develop a referral system that ensures continuity of patient care.
- Trains and evaluates the performance of hospital staff and takes or recommends the appropriate action.
- Assigns medical staff to shifts and posts including officer of the day and weekend duty.
- Plan for specialist clinics for specific conditions or for certain groups in the community i.e. newborn immunizations, hypertension, diabetic, etc.
- Ensure health education is undertaken periodically at the facility for the medical staff and maintain a portfolio of CMEs activities.
- Manage surgical waiting list to reduce waiting times.
- Presents recommendation to the Senior Management Team on such matters as hospital policy, new forms of treatment, the need for equipment, facilities, personnel and budgeting.
- Ensure infection and prevention measures and standards are always maintained.
- Plan the health care need of patients and community.
- Conduct Mobility and Mortality meetings.
Qualifications:
- Relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine.
- Must over 10 years’ experience as a qualified Medical Doctor with surgical skills and hospital management experience.
- Must be Registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Must have a valid practicing License.
- Must be Diplomatic with excellent communication and management skills
- Must have Previous experience in staff supervision, coaching and training in hospital set up.
- Must have the ability to analyze and interpret health data and write concise reports.
