Last year, Sheila Maina had highlighted the misery of a 34-year-old accident survivor who was left paralysed after injuring his spine.
All she wanted was for well-wishers to come to the aid of James Areja who could not afford the Sh10,000 per month physiotherapy at Kikuyu hospital.
At the time, she only got 21 replies and about 1300 retweets which did not bear any fruits.
But on the anniversary of her tweet, she reminded people that it has been a year since she asked for help.
“Mwaka inaisha and I’ve not managed to get James a wheelchair. All leads have been unfruitful. All I want for Christmas is to get this man a wheelchair. If anyone of you knows people who donate wheelchairs please Holla. An accident did this to him,” she posted.

Within hours after her tweet, generosity came pouring in. The offers for wheel chairs came from all walks of life. There were more than a dozen offers of wheel chairs for James.
“Good people, I’m overwhelmed by how each one of you has reached out to help and send leads. I’ve already picked this wheelchair for James. It was donated by @BegiGesicho Thank you very much.”

The offers came in flooding that she could not handle all of them.

Check your DM, I have shared a contact of a gentleman who normally brings wheel chairs from Belgium and gives out for free. He’s based in Belgium but has a shop in kasarani where he stores and distributes from. Good luck
