The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has confirmed that it is no longer renewing licenses for 14-seater matatus that pass through the capital’s Central Business District (CBD).
The agency however continues to issue Road Service Licenses (RSL) of 14-seater matatus operating in other routes.
In a statement on Thursday, Director General Francis Meja said owners of the matatus should seek alternative routes outside the CBD.
“The authority continues to renew Road Service License (RSL) for all 14-seater PSVs that do not pass through Central Business District of Nairobi city.
“We are indeed facilitating and encouraging the 14-seater PSV operators, especially those who have access to CBD to get alternative routes,” Mr Meja said in a statement.
