Kiambu governor Ferdinard Waititu over the weekend had unkind words for his Nairobi counterpart regarding the plans to decongest the city centre.

Waititu faulted Mike Sonko on his tried and failed effort to bar Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) from the city centre.

The Kiambu governor accusing Sonko of being inconsiderate to business owners in the matatu industry.

He was speaking as the new patron of a lobby group for matatu owners in an event where the industry players protested the proposed implementation of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system on major city roads.

“Wee unaona wazimu mwingine juzi anasema ati hawezi peana license kwa 14 seaters, kwani barabara ni yake? Mwingine wazimu anaamka safari moja anasema hamuezi kuja Nairobi kwani Nairobi ni yake?” Waititu questioned.

The Kiambu governor accused Sonko’s administration of not involving residents through public participation in the proposed BRT.

He urged city voters to consider electing a people’s servant in the next election.

This is not the first time Waititu has publicly criticised Sonko’s work in the city. Last year he went after him regarding the demolition of buildings on riparian land.
