A police constable attached to Kamukunji police station was on Tuesday arrested after firing at a colleague and helping a suspect to escape.
Constable Abel Musati was arrested after he fired at a traffic officer who was escorting a matatu drive to the police station
The traffic officer had arrested the matatu driver for driving without clearance from the Transport Board (TLB).
While driving to the police station the driver made a call to ‘the owner’ of the vehicle. The vehicle was stopped at Kariokor youndabout by Constable Musati who was in full police uniform and had an AK 47.
Musati pulled out the traffic officer and ordered the matatu driver to drive away. He then fired at his colleague but missed the shot.

The traffic officer reported the incident and Constable Musati was arrested and disarmed.
Investigations are underway pending his arraignment.
The incident comes days after a GSU officer brutally shot his colleague dead at Wilson Airport and then falsified the report.
